A Tale of Two Weekends!

December 2013

We had a very large storm in the beginning of the month and we had a fun weekend playing outside in the fresh snow!

Gage LOVED the snow!!

Brady pulled Gage around on the sled.

We found some small sledding hills across the street from our house.

Gage even tried his snowshoes for the first time...

... and he did AWESOME!  He loves his snowshoes!

Gibson and his friends played outside in the snow ALL DAY!

Even I got in on the action.  I was able to walk out my front door and go snowshoeing along the parkway.  Even though I HATE cold and snow, even I have to admit that it was a beautiful day!

And where was Caleb?  We asked him if he wanted to play outside in the snow, he said "NO".  He promptly turned on the fireplace and sat down on the couch.  He is definitely my child!

Then a few weekends later, we headed down to sunny St. George and enjoyed some "warmer" weather.  Unfortunately we were down there for Uncle Gene's funeral, but we made the best of it and enjoyed our family time together!

We fit in A LOT of swimming!!!

At the Tonaquint Cemetary for Uncle Gene's funeral.  The boys were very well behaved.

It was a very nice service and it was wonderful to see all the people who came who cared about Gene.

Gene's siblings: Joan, Barry, my dad and mom, LaRae and Kent.

Then we headed to Snow Canyon for some hiking!  Ever since we arrived in St. George, Caleb and Gage were asking to go hiking.  I think they remembered Snow Canyon from when we hiked there last year.

Gage and I!

Gibson scrambling up the hills!

Gage and Gibson!

Brady and Caleb!

Fun family pictures (we used the timer on the camera since we were the only people on the hike!)

Gage just took off up the hillside - he is definitely my budding hiker!

The boys' victory cheer after hiking to the top of the petrified sand dunes!

No trip to St. George is complete without a visit (or 2) to Irmitas!
The last time I took a picture of us all at Irmitas is the last picture I took of Uncle Gene.  We love and will miss you, Gene!

Bear Lake - August 2012

In August, we took our annual trip to Bear Lake.  As always, we met Kirk & Meili and their boys there and had a blast!!

Gage testing out the water!

The water level was really high again and we found a nice beach area where the water was shallow enough for the boys to play in.

Gage took over my beach chair!

Gibson and Gage!

Caleb actually played in the sand!  He's finally getting used to it!

My idea of relaxing!

Our beach spot!

Caleb and Gage jumping on the water trampoline.

Gage in Kirk's fishing kayak.

Gage is wearing Kayden's goggles!

Don't worry - this beer can is empty!

Hi Kirk, Meili, Caleb & Tallahassee (Kirk & Meili's new dog)!  (Ah - it looks so warm!)

Snowshoeing - March 2012

With the last big snowstorm, we knew it would be a great time (and probably the last time this season) to go snowshoeing. So we headed up to the Nordic Center at Solitude and went snowshoeing around Silver Lake.

My camera shutter didn't open all the way, but at least I got the boys in the shot! Here they are in their backpacks all ready to go! They get so excited when they see the backpacks!
Caleb got to ride on daddy's back! It was an absolute, beautiful, gorgeous day. You could not ask for a better day. Fresh snow, sun - AWESOME! It was so warm that Brady didn't wear a coat. I was wishing that I didn't have my snow pants on! None of us wore gloves.
Yes, there is a lake under all that snow! Gibson knew we were at Silver Lake, but he had to ask us where the lake was!
Awesome Gibson!
Caleb and Gage loved the icicles that were hanging from tree branches. They always had to have one in their hands and loved sucking on them!
Gage and mom!
After our hike, we let the boys just play in the snow for awhile. They had a ball! It's fun to watch them "waddle" around in their snowsuits!

We couldn't figure out what Caleb was doing - it was some version of down-dog in the snow!
